“The Fly” by Elise Gravel is a look at the common housefly. Learn about the hair on the fly’s body (requires a lot of shaving), its ability to walk on the ceiling (it’s pretty cool, but it’s hard to play soccer up there), and its really disgusting food tastes ( Mostly garbage) this Tuesday Tales.
We’re running a Bee Pollination Relay Race for Fit Friday so stretch your wings and be ready to run with you Bee Hive. Once you’ve buzzed around the museum you can head into the Makerspace to Build a Rainbow in a Jar at 3:30 p.m.
For Science Saturday we’ll compare which is stronger; wings or webs? We’ll conduct an experiment that tests the abilities of a web to capture winged creatures. After the experiment you can head into the Makerspace where we will be making and testing parachutes at 2:30 p.m.
For Tuesday Tales we’ll read “The Spider” by Elise Gravel. It covers such topics as the spider’s habitats (pretty much everywhere but outer space), the silk it spins (it can trap prey and makes a nifty bowtie), and its parenting practice (female spiders carry around their eggs in a silk purse).
Bring extra legs for this weeks Fit Friday when we do a spiders web fitness challenge! Then at 3:30 p.m. we’ll be making slime in the Makerspace!
