California museums have come up with an interesting way to get support. The museums are encouraging people to buy Snoopy license plates with the money going toward the museums.

The plate features a reproduction of the beagle of “Peanuts” fame and the phrase “Museums are for Everyone.”

The first 7,500 people to purchase them will receive discounted or free admission to some museums across the state.

Some of the participating museums include the Santa Maria Valley Discovery Museum and Santa Barbara Zoo.

“Museums like the Santa Maria Valley Discovery Museum are under funded in every possible way, so this grant funding is gonna help us tremendously, help all of the California museums, many of which operate on a small level like ours, but supporting huge populations of people, so its important,” said Chris Slaughter, executive director of the Santa Maria Valley Discovery Museum.

The DMV will begin issuing the plates once they have pre-sold all 7,500.

Right now, they only need a few thousand more to reach that goal.

Plates are $50, except for personalized plates, which are just under $100.
