The winds helped kites fly high over the skies of Santa Maria Sunday. Hundreds of kites filled the skies over the city for the Discovery Museum’s kite festival. Along with flying their own kites, people could watch professional flying demonstrations. Volunteers with the Discovery Museum were also on hand to teach people about the science of kites. The Discovery Museum says 2,000-3,0000 people showed up for the event.
